Dr Ball was honoured to be asked to present on Cervical Kinematics with Relevance to Cervical Arthroplasty at an event to mark the reintroduction Medicare funding for cervical disc replacement surgery.
In 2013, Medicare will fund cervical disc replacement at one level for patients with "symptomatic degenerative disc disease with radiculopathy" (MBS 48694).
Dr Ball spoke on current knowledge of cervical kinematics (how the spine moves) and how that knowledge is relevant to disc replacement surgery.
